M/S Bergensfjord is the ferry on route between Hirtshals in North Jutland and Stavanger and Bergen on the west coast of Norway, operated by the Norwegian Fjord Line. The trip along the Norwegian west coast is a beautiful journey, when the weather is clear, especially in the summer month. The route is operated all year.

When Bergensfjord is departing Hirtshals, the ferry crosses Skagarrak, before entering The North Sea. Because of the long distances on the open sea, the ferry trip can be rather rough in the winter month. Sometimes the departure times are changed with short notice because of the weather conditions. However, in the summertime the ferry ride is a very nice experience, especially the route between Stavanger and Bergen.
On board M/S Bergensfjord is several restaurants, a night club, a bar and of course a shop with “real” tax free shopping, thanks to the fact, that Norway is not a member of the European Union.

The travelling time for Stavanger is normally about 11 hours. After a short stop to unload passengers and cars bound for Stavanger, Bergensfjord continues to Bergen. The total travel time from Hirtshals to Bergen is about 19 hours.
The ferry departs Hirtshals bound for Bergen on Tuesdays at 15.00, Thursdays at 13.00 and Sundays at 12.30 pm. On Saturdays Bergensfjord leaves for Stavanger at 8.30 am, but do not continue to Bergen on this departure.
On the 1st of October 2012, Fjord Line will start operating a brand new cruise ship on the Hirtshals-Stavanger-Bergen route, build specifically for the waters of Skagerrak and The North Sea. At the same time, Fjord Line will reopen presently closed ferry route between Hirtshals and Langesund on the south eastern coast of Norway.
